The Friends Pop-up Bookshop, originally set up for the History Festival, has become so popular that it’s now a fixture on the first floor of the Institute Building. You can browse a quality range of pre-loved books at bargain prices in our foyer on topics including history and biography, Australiana, gastronomy and literature. Inside our rooms the antiquarian and vintage section has proved very fruitful for collectors of interesting rare books and other publications. All books have been donated by supporters and are sensibly priced, and 100% of the funds raised goes to help the aims of the Friends of the State Library. The foyer bookshop is open during Library hours with an honour system if the office is unattended. The antiquarian and collectibles are on sale during the Friends office hours.
